Working with us
What happens in the first meeting?
The first meeting is a conversation. We spend most of it listening — your circumstances, your family, what is causing uncertainty and what you want the next ten to twenty years to look like. We will explain how we work and what advice would involve, so that you can decide whether to take it further.
Do I need a certain amount of money to become a client?
We work closely with a limited number of clients rather than a large book, so the fit matters more than a threshold. Most of the people we help are managing some genuine complexity — a business, a growing super balance, an inheritance, a transition into retirement — and want a long-term relationship rather than a one-off transaction. If we are not the right practice for you, we will tell you in the first meeting and point you somewhere better suited.
What should I bring to the first meeting?
Nothing is essential. If you have them handy, recent superannuation statements, any existing insurance policies, loan statements and your most recent tax return give us a faster start. If you do not, we will work through it together afterwards.
Do you meet in person or online?
Both. Our office is on Hay Street in Subiaco and we prefer to meet face-to-face for the discovery meeting and the presentation of your plan. Reviews and interim conversations can be held by video or phone where that suits you better, including for clients based regionally or interstate.
Advice and licensing
How are you licensed?
Eight Financial Services Pty Ltd (ABN 25 114 328 942) and Plexus Wealth Pty Ltd (ABN 58 108 336 705) trade as Resolution Wealth Partners and are authorised representatives of Insight Investment Services (ABN 22 122 230 835, AFSL 309 996). Our Financial Services Guide sets out our relationships, how we are remunerated and any benefits we may receive. We recommend reading it before your first meeting.
What is a Statement of Advice?
A Statement of Advice, or SOA, is the written document that sets out our recommendations, the reasoning behind them, the costs involved and the risks you should weigh. Nothing is implemented until you have read it, asked your questions and given us the go-ahead.
Can you work alongside my accountant and solicitor?
Yes, and we prefer to. Strategy, tax and estate work overlap constantly. With your permission we will coordinate directly with your existing advisers so the pieces line up rather than pulling against each other.
Strategy and investments
How do you decide what to invest in?
Portfolio design follows the strategy, never the other way around. We start with your goals, your timeframe and the level of risk you can genuinely live with, then build a diversified portfolio to match. We take a long-term view and we would rather explain why we are not chasing something than justify it later.
Do you advise on self managed super funds?
We do, including establishment, investment strategy and ongoing management. An SMSF is not right for everyone — it carries real administrative and trustee obligations — so we will model it honestly against the alternatives before recommending one.
How often will we review my plan?
We review your plan regularly, and more often when something changes. Selling a business, a new child, redundancy, an inheritance or a health event are all reasons to pick up the phone rather than wait for the scheduled review.
What if my circumstances change between reviews?
Call us. We pride ourselves on being accessible and reliable, so that when you need us, you know we will be available, and adjusting a plan early is almost always less stressful than correcting it later.
